2018 Team Prouty Raises $13k!
Last year Unum's bicycle team took on the Pan Mass Challenge, and rode 192 miles in support of Dana Farber Cancer Institute. This year, a dedicated team of Unumanians traversed much more difficult terrain, riding over 200 miles through the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont (with a slight detour nearly into Canada!) in the 11th Annual Prouty Ultimate. Through individual contributions and company-wide fundraising efforts, the team raised over $13,000 to benefit Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC), one of 49 National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country.
The Prouty began in 1982 when four NCCC nurses, inspired by the courage of their patient, Audrey Prouty, committed to cycling 100 miles through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised stays at Norris Cotton Cancer Center to fund cancer research seeking better ways to diagnose, treat, and prevent cancer.
