This is an outstanding opportunity to be a core scientist and scientific leader in a well-funded, early stage biotechnology company on the cutting edge of novel cancer treatments.

What are we offering you?

This position will use structural biology to advance our design efforts to enhance our ACTR technology platform as we move into new areas.  We are looking for this individual to bring new ideas and innovation to drive scientific projects focused on our ACTR platform.

This individual’s ideas and contributions from a synthetic biology, structural biology, and molecular engineering perspective will have a major impact on scientific capability and direction at the company.

What are we seeking?

  • An independent, flexible, high-energy expert in molecular engineering/synthetic biology with experience in mammalian cellular systems.

  • PhD with 3-8 years of experience in modulating or engineering biological systems, preferably with at least 1-3 years of experience in a drug-discovery industry setting.

  • Proven track record of project leadership and scientific innovation.

  • Familiarity with structural biology visualization programs for molecular design (e.g. PyMol or similar)

  • Demonstrated competence in some or all of the following areas: molecular biology, protein production, nucleic acid and protein biochemistry, mammalian cell biology, virology, genome editing technologies, library construction, selection-based technologies, structural biology.

  • Knowledge in cancer biology and/or immunology is a plus.

What will you be doing?

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and building molecular constructs for expression of proteins and nucleic acids in mammalian cells and for ex vivo modification of primary cells using a variety of expression modalities, including transient and stable DNA transfection, mRNA, and viral transduction.

  • Designing, building, expressing, and purifying recombinant proteins and antibodies using bacterial and mammalian expression systems for use in vitro and in vivo.

  • Driving platform technology development projects in molecular and cellular engineering, including library generation, screening strategies, cellular assay development, and genome editing technologies.

  • Collaborating with drug discovery scientists to understand technology development needs and to transition technology development projects into pipeline programs.

  • Engaging and collaborating in both building and leading our laboratory efforts

  • Contributing to other initiatives as they arise in our fast paced start-up environment
