Sr. Manager, Finance, Reporting and Accounting Operations, at Unum Therapeutics

What are we seeking?


  • Must be a self-starter, detail oriented, ability to execute and manage projects

  • Familiarity with SEC reporting regulations (10K, 10Q, 8K)

  • 5-10 years of general accounting experience, Consolidations/Accounting operations/SEC reporting

  • 3+ years public accounting experience at Big Four CPA firm with emphasis on SEC registrants as client base

  • Experience in the Pharma/Biotech/Life sciences space preferred

  • MS-Office proficiency, specifically intermediate to advanced Excel skills

  • Experience with accounting software, preferably NetSuite and Quickbooks

  • Strong communication and analytical skills

  • Teamwork and ability to interface with employees and all levels of management

  • Strong initiative and ability to work with very little supervision

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance




What will you be doing?


Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the successful candidate will be a key member of our accounting organization, preparing accurate and timely financial reports and ensuring appropriate accounting control procedures.

  • Work closely with the Corporate Controller and CFO on many aspects of finance and accounting operations

  • Participate in monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities as well as assist with budget to actual monitoring

  • Assist with structuring and maintaining the general ledger accounting software/ERP as well as design and develop any required systematic reporting

  • Verify the integrity and accuracy of the general ledger by investigating variances, identifying and solving issues, and ensuring that all transactions are accounted for in US GAAP

  • Research complex accounting issues and implement procedures to ensure transactions are properly recorded under US GAAP

  • Partner with various business units in order to ensure financial accountability and provide analytics to drive business performance

  • Facilitate data gathering and analysis for annual audits and quarterly audit reviews

  • Participate in IPO readiness and S1 preparation as well as other SEC drafting sessions including MD&A and financial statement notes and disclosures, if and when required

  • Manage stock-based compensation software tool to ensure compliance with ASC 718

  • Participate in development of internal control framework and testing infrastructure

  • Assist with vendor management, accounts payable, employee expense reimbursement as required

  • Other special projects as necessary
